Hey yall!
My names Shawn, and I have the pleasure of going on the world race with Vickie!
So lets cut straight to the meat of the matter.
Who is Vickie?
Honestly, I’ve struggled writing this because I don’t know if words can sum up how much Vickie already means to me and to our team. When I first joined our world race squad, honestly, I was worried I wouldn’t become friends with people, because everyone lived across the country and I was mainly by myself in California. (Very dumb to think that, I know). Queue, Vicks. Honestly, my first thought on Vicks was “Dang, she posts a lot in this group chat.”, little did I know that that was what our squad needed. Little did Vickie realize she was becoming the glue for so many different members of our squad, helping us remain attached to our team.
Let’s talk about Vickie’s heart for a second. If you google the word generous and caring, im 100% sure Vickie’s name should be replaced with the actual definition. She has helped me in so many ways, from helping with small items for my trip, to offering me some of the best advice I have received to date. Vickie is such a light to this world! She even hooked our team up with sweet shirts for camp! (OHANA!!!)
Now, why does this all matter? It matters because Vickie has such a special calling on her life. This team, this group we have, Vicks will be the glue to hold it together. Vicks will be the one who when someone is feeling homesick will encourage them to keep pressing on. Vicks is the one that when someone is injured, she will be by there side to make sure they’re ok. Vicks is the one who will relentlessly give her time to better get to know someone who isn’t very talkative. It’s not that Vicks needs us, we need her. It’s not a want, but a necessity.
To all of Vicks friends and families, who have been donating and praying for Vicks as she embarks on this journey, thank you so much for everything you do! Without you, Vicks would not be where she is at now.
