I read a book, Secrets of the Secret Place, last month.

It rocked me.

One verse that is mentioned in the book has shaken me, and I can’t stop thinking about it.

But he who is joined to the Lord becomes one spirit with him. —1 Corinthians 7:17

This verse is in the middle of Paul writing about fleeing sexual immorality. So why would Paul write this sentence in the middle of it all?

Because we aren’t our own spirit once we come to Christ. It isn’t two spirits co-existing. Just like in marriage, we become one with Him. Holy Spirit and my individual spirit are one.

I’ve done a lot of reading and listening to people talk about marriage the past few years. What I’ve learned a lot about is vulnerability and that it’s a covenant. Which is a BIG DEAL. It’s a solid promise, and not one to be taken lightly.

I recently started using Blue Letter Bible app by the suggestion of a squadmate. It allows you to look at the original Greek and what words more specifically mean.

“...the one who joins himself...”: the Greek word is kollao, which literally means to GLUE together.

You can’t just pull things apart that have been glued together. And God CHOSE this. Even on my worst day, He loves me, pursues me, and calls me His.

The same is true for you. Even if you don’t have a relationship with God, He still loves you. He is still pursuing you. He wants to be in relationship with you. How wild, raw, and beautiful. He’s stuck on us. On me. On you.
