Secondly…I NO LONGER HAVE A JOB. Yesterday was my final day working at the place I’ve spent 40 hours a week (sometimes more, depending on the deadlines, haha) for the past two years. It has been a wild journey there through a buy-out and many other things. I can honestly say I couldn’t have had a better boss, supervisor, or crew to work with. We truly did work as a team, and I’m incredibly blessed to have them in my life. This year has been hard for a million different reasons, but we always ran alongside one another. We always helped each other find a reason to laugh and smile and have a brighter day. Dark days came, but we were able to help brighten them, and it made all the difference.
I am a better person for having worked with these people, and I only hope they can say the same about having worked with me.
Joel & Jenn: your leadership drives the team. You always lead by example. You encourage and build up, and always find the positive in whatever hand is dealt. I could always depend on you to steer me in the right direction in design work, and knew you cared for your team as friends and not just co-workers/employees. That truly makes all the difference.
Leslie: You keep us as organized as possible in the midst of chaotic weeks of casting calls and photoshoots, and I have no idea how! I’ll miss hearing stories about the girls, and talking about Gilmore Girls, books, coffee, and Colorado. Enjoy that Blue Mountain coffee again this year!!!
Bria: I’ll miss coffee chats and sneaking up on you. HA. Weezy F. Baby will certainly miss coming into the office to visit you as well. You’re always fun to work with. You bring laughter and life to the team, and eventually, I hope Jeremy can get you to try a pickle back. They’re better than a Belfast, I promise. 🙂
Rhona & Casey: I didn’t get to directly work with you guys as much, but you are two of the are two of the most hardworking people I’ve ever been on a team with. You guys put a ton of time and energy in, and the end product shows. You do incredible work. You guys love and care for people well, and take the best vacay pics for Instagram and make us all jealous while you’re away.
Kassi: While you’re away, we miss you a bunch. The office has never been the same since you left! I miss our little runs to Dunkin and all the Harry Potter chats. Looking forward to facetiming after the new Fantastic Beasts comes out, which will be when I’m in Thailand!! But we’ll have to talk about it because I don’t think many on the squad are HP fans, and we’ll have to talk about how epic it is anyway.
Chris: I miss talking about Mosby and Weasley and how ridiculous our pets are. Also dogsitting him, because he’s crazy but the best. We miss you in the office, but know you’re doing well in KC!! I’ll definitely send you video and pics when we visit elephants in Thailand and cage dive with sharks in South Africa. Maybe when I get back, we can take a trip together and do all the things Jenn thinks we’re insane for wanting to do. LOLZ.
Becca: DANG ALL OUR STUDIO CHATS. I’ll miss the chaos of shooting all the flats and troubleshooting why the tether won’t work. It’s truly been a joy getting to know you the past two years. I’ll miss all our laughs and heart to hearts in the studio. You have an incredible kid and you’re an amazing mom! Thankful for you, friend!
Marshall: I’ll most definitely miss hearing about the adventures of the Fuzzies and all the mischief they get into. Haha. It always made mornings more tolerable. You’re a really hard worker, and always willing to learn new skills to better the team, even if it means studying a giant manual to be certified to fly a drone. Thanks for always being willing to go on a coffee run to make it through an afternoon!
Jeremy: Our corner definitely got more rowdy a year and a half ago when you got hired, but thank God for that. Thanks for bringing more laughter to the department, posting videos of Melvin grooming your hair, and doodling 90s food icons during morning meetings. OH. And introducing me to pickle backs. Life has never been the same since. And cucumber salsa. All the things.
This team wasn’t just a team, but a family. A lot of us had heavy things happen in the past year, but we all helped one another through. Some days that looked like laughing and telling jokes, some days it meant walking across the street for a coffee, other days it was helping chip in money when some of us lost everything in a fire. Though I have an incredible squad for the race, I’ve had an incredible squad the past two years, through some hard seasons. I’m thankful they were there for me, and that I was able to be there for them in return. It isn’t often I’ve had such amazing community at work, but I’m thankful for this squad and the time I’ve had with them.
Today was weird not clocking in and doing all the normal day to day things I’ve done the past two years. But I know you’ll all continue to crank out amazing stuff. I’m proud of all of you and the work we got to do together the past two years. I hope to see you all in the future sometime after I get back! Until then, keep in touch!
To those who don’t know any of these people: you’re truly missing out. 🙂
what a cool tribute to your co-workers!
